Abdoulaye holds a doctorate in medicine from Senegal and is currently pursuing graduate studies at Université Laval’s Faculty of Medicine with the goal of becoming a clinician-researcher. His research project involves establishing CommunitiT1D, a community initiative uniting individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D), their families, and healthcare experts. The project aims to develop a sustainable approach, led by individuals with type 1 diabetes, to enhance the mental health and quality of life for those living with T1D across Canada.
His broader research interests lie in chronic non-communicable diseases, particularly diabetes and hypertension. He advocates for community-based approaches in addition to drug-based management, empowering patients to take control of their health and improve their psychosocial well-being.
