Hina Hakim is a PhD candidate in Community Health at Laval University. Her PhD research focuses on methods to convey the concept of herd immunity to members of the public through visualization. Using an iterative approach, her goal is to develop a dynamic visualization of herd immunity, assess cognitive and emotional responses to the visualization, and test its effects on risk perception.

She has contributed her expertise to projects at Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ).

Her research interests are:

  • vaccine confidence and vaccine acceptance
  • digital media, digital health, co-design and other information and communication technologies
  • risk communication and numeracy
  • public health
